“…there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens…” Ecclesiastes 3:1

God is a God of seasons and in every season there’s always something He is requiring us to do. Every promise of God when fulfilled establishes a season but with every promise comes a condition. Every promise of God will not come to pass until a condition is met! This is a true saying and it applies even when we are believing God for a partner after His own heart. There’s a season of love in your future or you may already be in it but always remember, with every season comes responsibility. Here’s my point: A blessing that you are not prepared for can feel like a curse or nuisance! Scripture says “…he that finds a wife finds a good thing…” scripture also says “…a virtuous woman comes from the Lord…” A partner is a blessing from God. He is the giver: the pattern was set in the garden of Eden when He said “…it’s not good for a man to be alone…” You may be praying or believing for a mate, but what are you doing to prepare for the blessing? Are you doing your part? God will never give you anything when you have not created room…but you may ask, how do I prepare? That’s a good question, let me give you some practical keys:

Think about it: dating relationship and even marriage…this may sound funny but there are so many believers who give no thought to such crucial matters and it’s sad. Some of them think it’s carnal to do so but nothing can be further from the truth. Relationships are so crucial to the extent that God uses marriage to describe His relationship with the church. God told me some time back “you cannot prepare for something you never give thought to!” So think about these issues because your season is surely coming!

Learn about relationships and marriage: invest in yourself. Read books, attend seminars and have healthy and spiritual conversations about these issues with mature peers. Read what the word of God has to say about marriage: let that become your standard!

Cultivate a good attitude towards marriage and relationships: broken homes, abuse or heartbreak have the ability to stain your attitude toward marvellous and sacred issues like marriage and dating relationships. Bitterness is poisonous: it has the ability to make one critical and hateful. But this is not how it ought to be: if you have struggles with bitterness because of hurtful past experiences, get before God in sincerity and pray like David “search me oh God and know me; if there’s anything displeasing in me, remove it!” let go of the bitterness and receive God’s rest. And then let God remove the wrong attitudes by showing you His design from His word: the reverence, honour, joy, fun and pricelessness of these things.

Live a pure life: let there not be a hint of immorality in your life. Walk in purity and maintain your innocence! God is pleased when you carry your body with reverence. Scripture says “don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit…you are not your own…you were bought at a price…” Walk with that consciousness! Your body is a sacred entity, don’t grieve the precious Holy Spirit by defiling it with impurity.

WAIT on the Lord: “Wait” in this context doesn’t imply anticipating the arrival of someone idly rather it implies active waiting or anticipation! If you ask single people nowadays what they are doing, they will say they are waiting but observe them, they are busy living without direction-with no sense of purpose! When you go to a restaurant and a waiter is serving you food, we say you are being waited on! I believe that’s the meaning of waiting that’s on God’s heart. Can you “wait” on God as you wait? The Bible plainly puts it in Luke 12:31 “seek his kingdom and these things will be given to you as well…” so spend time serving God i.e. step into your purpose and walk in obedience and all these things shall be added unto you.

If you pray for rain, make sure to prepare your fields and plant your crop, that’s what people of faith do! It’s time you started preparing for “RAIN”!
